June 26th

#bookaday June 26th: Coraline (graphic novel). I'm not sure why I have not read this book yet because I would have read it in ms.

This book is freaky, freaky! I would have totally picked something like this in middle school. The fake parents with button eyes are enough for nightmares that is for sure. This might lead to the reading of the chapter book as well. I can only imagine the imagining from the words is even more creepy.

Still working on Clash of Kings (book 2 of Game of Thrones) and the 6th installment of the Stookie Stackhouse series.

Needless to say. I am reading. Reading everyday, many pages at a time. Making room for reading is so important. Reading faster even after 30 some days of summer.

June 25th

#bookaday  June 25th:  Finished up the Amulet series today.  So glad that I read these books finally.  Can see why my students like them.

June 21-24th

So from Saturday to today (Tuesday) I was able to get a little reading done. I am working on the Amulet series which is super popular with my students and it was about time that I read it. I am working through the John Green books this summer as well. 

Over Sunday and Monday I also was still listening to Game of Thrones book 2. Over half way done with that. 

June 19 & 20

#bookaday June 19 & 20: Little Red Lies & My Beautiful Broken Shell

Little Red Lies is a historical fiction with more realistic situations in it than history. 

My Beautiful Broken Shell a little inspirational book that makes you remember that even when something is broken in your life you still have value.

@vogtteacherlib: #bookaday June 18: Slaughterhouse 5. Hmmm.

So this is one that some high schools require for reading. I've never read it before this summer. I took it as a recommendation from a Vlogbrothers posting a couple of weeks ago.

You take it for what it is. Intriguing. Strange. Meaning hard to grasp. I need a couple stays to think about this one.

June 14

June 14th:  #bookaday  Issac's Storm by Erik Larson

This is my first non-fiction book for the summer.  After reading Reading in the Wild I realized that I wished that my students would read more non-fiction books.  How do I get them to do that?  Well it can't hurt me reading a few non-fiction books from time to time.

While in Houston, last March I bought this book based on a suggestion from my father-in-law.  Since I am back in Houston I thought it would be a perfect time to read a book about the 1900 Galveston Hurricane.  The science of weather has always been interesting to me since I spent nine years teaching Earth Science.  This book had so many tragic human stories and so many intriguing science stories.

Very glad to add this to my list for #bookaday.
