#bookaday July 29-Aug 1: Parentology, DrumsGirlsDangerousPie, From Dead to Worse and a book that highly offended me
I read a book this week that completely in every way offended me. Pushed me to the edge. Made me angry, sad, frustrated, and worried/concerned for people, like the author, that believe and profess the same dogma/propaganda.
It's good to read things that offend you. I often tell students and teachers that a good library has something to offend everyone. We live in a great country where everyone is allowed to have their own opinions and feelings about everything--and they can write about it.
I choose to take this experience and use it for the positive. Boundaries need to be set. How I feel needs to be considered. I have to move on with things and not let it affect me so much that I cannot get beyond it.
Students when you read something that you do not like or agree, as far as your personal beliefs or ideas are concerned, can you use that as a positive or negative experience? The choice is up to you.
